Disneyland 2024 – What to Expect at The Parks This Year!

Disneyland is always launching new and exciting things for each year, and we have the scoop on what to expect at Disneyland 2024, if visiting this year. There are lots of new and exciting entertainment, food and ride options as part of the celebration! We share about things you can expect to find in this year at Disneyland as a part of that celebration, as well as ways to save going to Disneyland this year.

One of the first things to note, is that, as of now Disneyland is still requiring its reservations system (so it is working a bit different than WDW).

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Opens in 2024

This is probably one of the most anticipated new happenings at Disneyland 2024. We do not have an exact opening date yet, but it is expected to happen in 2024. Disney had previously closed down Splash Mountain to revamp the attraction into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure from The Princess and the Frog movie. Stay tuned for actual opening dates on that….

The Official Opening of Pixar’s Pier (previously the Paradise Pier Disney Hotel) & Pixar Fest Returns

Fantasmic! returns on May 24

For those of you who have missed this show, it will be back this spring with a revamped ending.

Season of the Force – A Star Wars Themed event is happening this Spring

From April 5 to June 2 we will see some new Star Wars themed additions to the park. Disney has not released a ton of info on this yet, but we have heard that Space Mountain will transform into Hyper Space Mountain for a limited time. I am excited to see what that will look like. We also expect to possibly see some new characters added to Star Wars land and an Star Wars upgrade to the fireworks showing at Galaxys Edge.

Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway in NOW Open at Disneyland

Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway is already a super popular ride at Walt Disney World and it is now coming to Disneyland. It is a ride through attraction, and family friendly. You will have to book a spot in the Virtual Que to access this ride (similar to how the popular Star Wars ride worked) and there will be no standby line for this. You will have the option to buy a fast pass for this ride too if they are available. You will want to have the Disneyland app installed on your phone to do these things. Din Tai Fung Coming to Downtown Disney!

This is one of my kids very favorite restaurant, so they are going to be ecstatic about this addition. I thought some of you might be too. Do NOT skip the chocolate dumplings with cream for dessert…..amazing!

New Entertainment & More!

Wonderous Journeys

This years special light show that happens on Main Street in the Disneyland park (you will want to face Cinderella’s castle) in the evenings, is Wonderous Journeys, and it will be revived this year for shows from March 22 to April 14. It will take you on a journey through 100 years of Walt Disney Animation Studios storytelling and some nights will include a spectacular fireworks show too.

Disney’s Mix Magic show, also on Main Street, will be happening once again from Jan. 8 through March 21,with fireworks added on select nights from April 15 to April 25.

Magic Happens Parade

The Magic Happens Parade will be returning to the Disneyland park on February 2nd this year. This is their grand daytime show, and features characters and floats and more. It happens down Main Street, and usually twice a day

Toon Town has Re-Opened

 The all new reimagined Mickey’s Toon Town is now open for this year

Haunted Mansion Closed for Extended Refurbishing

The Haunted Mansion will be closing for refurbishment on January 21, and Disney has not yet announced an opening for it. Lets hope it is open by the Halloween season, but no telling at this time.

Festive Decor Throughout The Park

Each year Disney adds festive decor throughout both parks, for different seasons.

Themed Food Options

You will find new festive food and drink options for this years celebration, like Platinum Mickey Sipper and the Platinum Mickey Balloon Popcorn Bucket and more.

For the food lovers, the Disney Food and Wine Festival runs from 3/3 to 4/25 in Disney California Adventure. You can stroll through the Festival and participate in events that are either free with your California Adventure admission, or an additional charge. There are cooking demonstrations for both kids and adults, plus celebrity chef meet and greets. If you purchase the Sip and Savor Passes you can get a bundle deal.
