Spring Outfit Ideas – ALL Picks Under $30!

With spring here, my teens and I wanted to find a few items to update our wardrobes with, as the days start to warm up, but the weather is still a bit unpredictable. Living in the Pacific Northwest, spring fashion for me often means finding great light pants that I can pair with tanks and tees to stay cool when we have a beautiful day, but also keep warm while the weather is still warming up. It is not quite shorts weather most days in this area, but I am definitely ready to shed some of the heavier outfits of winter. I like to look for transitional pieces that work in different kinds of weather, and usually start with a great pair of comfy, stylish, and lightweight pants and build from there.

I have one teen who will be graduating from high school this year and heading off to college after that, and one who will be doing the same next year. That means I was looking for fun styles for us all, that we would feel good in, and at affordable prices. Comfort + style is what my priorities are, and my kids wanted fun styles and quality items. We needed a mix of both casual items and pieces that would transition to outfits my girls could also use for interviews, and came up with these spring outfits. All of the pieces were under $30 each. Hard to believe, but true!

Walmart has really been stepping up its fashion game, and it is where we found all of the outfit ideas we put together here. I found some of my very favorite spring pieces on Walmart this year. They carry so many fun brands and styles, that the hardest part can sometimes be finding what you want, so we have done some of that legwork here, and picked out some outfits that hit all of the points we have mentioned so far, 1) fun styles for this spring, 2) quality pieces that both fit great and felt great on and 3) all affordable (at our target price point of $30 or less). I found so many really fun trends on Walmart this year, at prices that worked for me, and the hardest part was narrowing it down to just a few outfits we wanted to share with you all.

These are all spring fashion trends that I felt like worked for real women, and so what I want to do here is to make these deals easy to find, and show you what they look like in real life. We did that by taking pictures of the outfits ourselves, to help you determine if they might be a good fit for you too, and then make it really easy for you to shop the items you like.

Spring Outfits – All Items for $30 or LESS, many under $20 and some under $10!

Here are some of my and my teens’ favorite spring fashion trend picks we grabbed on Walmart. The thing I like the most about these trends is that they transition easily from spring wear into everyday outfits that we can use year-round, simply by adding a sweater or cardigan.

Light Pants For Spring

One of my favorite things to grab for spring are light pants. Pants that I can wear when the sun comes out with a tank, as well as use on cooler days with a cardigan over the tank. Layering is key for springs in the Northwest, and a light and comfortable pair of pants is one of my favorite ways to do this.

Here are a few styles I am loving this year.

Parachute Pants – $8.99

I listed these No Boundaries Parachute pants in army green first, because we love them. I say “we” because I bought them for myself, but my teen has already started to “borrow” them. That is her in them above, and they are so cute on her I am going to have to grab a second pair for her so mine do not keep “disappearing”. They are only $8.99 (no joke!), so I had to try them, and they turned out to be so light and comfortable I plan to go back for the blue color too (come in this green and slate blue).

These ones are mid-rise height. They work perfectly on my teen, and then I just add a little longer tank top to them and they work great for me too! The waist is elastic, so they will be good for different body types and sizes, and there is a cinch string if you want to loosen them or tighten them. I will definitely be staying cool in these as the days warm up. My kiddo keeps taking them to lounge in, because she finds them that comfortable.

Note that on the model on Walmart, they look like they might fit short, but my daughter is 5’9 and I am 5’6 and neither of us felt like the fit was short. Hopefully, this real-life picture gives you a better idea of the length.

My teen is pairing them with this Time & Tru ribbed tank for $4.98, making the outfit (pants and top) only $13.97! We have added some ideas to style it with, to make it a full outfit too, and it was definitely the most affordable outfit all around (you could get the entire outfit with shoes and accessories for just over $61).

 

Trouser Styles

This Sofia Vergara linen suit outfit was perfect for my teen, who will be doing some job interviews as well as some special interviews for pre-college programs this summer. She loved that it came in three pieces, so not only can she wear it when she needs a professional casual look, but she can also pair the vest with jeans and add a tank to wear with the linen pants to make it more versatile. The pants and the vest, though, are what is really great for spring. They are both lightweight, and the neutral colors make it work for so many different looks. She can pair the pants with a white button-down for times that she needs a business casual outfit, or wear the pants and vest with some dressier shoes for a dinner out. These are very flexible pieces and nice staples to add to her wardrobe.

Cuffed Stretchy Jeans

This cream color screamed spring to me, and these jeans are so comfy. I loved the style, fit, and quality of these jeans, and they were just $21.98. I grabbed the cream color, but they come in a light jean wash too. The material has stretch to it, so they are flattering on different body types, and what drew me to them initially was the cute cuffing detail at the bottom. The cuffing at the bottom is harder to see in the pictures, but it is really cute in real life.

Honestly, this entire outfit is so comfy from head to toe. The tank is one of the Time and Tru high-low v-neck tanks, and I own this one in a few colors, as it is a very flattering style. Most importantly, though, they are very soft and comfortable too (I have been known to sleep in them!). You can tuck it in or let it hang out, and it is long enough that it provides nice coverage. I just throw a cardigan over it on cooler days, but I really love these in the summer.

These shoes have been comfortable for me from the very first wear. They are the Time and Tru Comfort Flip Flops, and they live up to their name. I love the faux leather and faux buckle look to elevate them a little more than your typical flip flop.

Wide Leg Draw String Pants

I love these wide-leg pants with drawstring ties from No Boundaries. They are very versatile and go with so many different looks.. I like to wear these ribbed tanks that I grab from Time and Tru for only $6.98 on warm days, and throw a cardigan over the tank for cooler days. I would consider the pants to be high-rise, but not super high-rise (they definitely do not fit me as high as they do the model on Walmart, but they are more than a mid-rise. They have a drawstring and stretch to the waist area of the pants, so they will work with different body types as well. I just find them to be a nice casual everyday, light pant. I like the wide leg look, to add a little style and the have pockets up front and in back as well.

Another top I really like is this Prettygarden ruffled sleeve V-Neck top. It is long enough that you can tuck it in, or wear it out, and it has a lot of stretch to it, so very comfortable too. I have these Time and Tru cork platform shoes I bought last season, but I am going back for another pair of the Cushionaires I mentioned below this year.

More Fun Items to Grab for Spring, Under $30!

Levi Cutoffs – Checking out the Levi cutoffs on Walmart has become a spring tradition at our house. Levis are a timeless brand, and we always find prices we love on Walmart. My teen loved this pair (it comes in different washes and you can wear them uncuffed for longer shorts, or cuff them up for shorter ones – they are super versatile). Some of our favorite styles this year are:

Loungeware Sets – I am loving the two-piece loungeware sets available this season. They are relaxed, comfortable, and still stylish. You can relax in them, run errands in them, or accessorize them to dress them up. Plus, since you are buying them as a set, the prices are great on these too.

Spring Shoe Trends

There are three sandal trends this year that I am particularly in love with — platforms, strappy sandals, and ballet flats! All you need is one pair of each to go with many outfits and occasions. Tips on shopping for these looks:

  • I find sizing runs big, so I generally size down if something is in between sizes, especially on the pants, and this is even more true if they have stretch to them.
  • Use the Fit Predictor Tool on Walmart to help you determine your size for the brands that you are looking at.
  • Some brands offer a change your model tool. You can select a model that represents your size and shape, and see the clothes on that model.
  • They restock often. Items can sell out (so if you like them, grab them soon), but if you find anything out of stock, I tend to check back from time to time, as they do sometimes restock.
  • Consider Walmart+ for free deliveries.
