Simple No Bake Monster Cake Pops!
I love this simple hack for making no bake cake pops. Use it to make really easy Halloween Monster cake pops that will be the hit at any party, or just for after school treats for the kids. There are two versions that we make, that both turn out so cute, and are easy for me to make. No baking involved at all, which also means I can make them last minute if I need to as well.
The monster design is especially fun to make, because they are really forgiving. The uglier the better, with these cake pops. No need to get them perfectly round, or smooth – go with the mess to make your monsters a little more atrocious looking. You can also keep it simple and just get fall or Halloween colored sprinkles and use those too. The real key to the monster look is the candy eyes. Buy a pack of those, and making monsters is so simple. You do not have have to have them though, you can use frosting to draw on the eyes too if need be.
You can serve them with these simple Halloween pies to keep the whole spread super simple.
The two versions the No Bake Halloween Cake Pops include:
No Bake Donut Hole Cake Pops
This is about the easiest way possible to make No Bake Cake Pops for Halloween. Donut hole cake pops are just that. Instead of spending time baking the cake part needed for cake pops, you start by using pre-made donut holes.
My favorite kinds to use are plain cake donut holes or glazed ones. You can also use any other kind really, as you will be coating the outside with the melted candies.
This method is really simple, as all you need to do is melt some candy wafers, stick the donut hole on the stick, dip it in the chocolate and decorate with sprinkles or other any other way you want to decorate. It is that easy!
Rice Krispy Treat Cake Pops
Rice Krispy treat cake pops are just as easyr to make! They are not technically cake pops (no cake in them), but still they are a fun no bake version that you can use to turn into fun Monster Halloween treats the kids will love, and they are so simple to make. If you buy pre-made Rice Krispy treats, stick the cake pop stick into them, and then decorate – then you can have these ready in no time at all.
If you are making your own Rice Krispy treats, you can also make them in the shape of a small pumpkins. Then stick these on the cake pop sticks, for another cute idea. I usually start with the premade ones for these though, as I am looking for simple.
Ingredients Needed for Donut Hole Cake Pops –
- Donut Holes
- Melting Candy Wafers
- Cake Pop Sticks
- and then any things you want to decorate your monster pops, like sprinkles, gel frosting, and candy eyes.
How To Make Donut Hole Cake Pops –
You will want to start by melting your candy wafers (follow the directions on the pack that you purchased). I threw mine in the microwave for about a minute each.
I like to start by melting just a little bit of of the candy wafers, and then using that to dip the sticks in, then stick them into the donut holes, and transfer onto parchment or wax paper.
The next thing you will want to do to make the process easy is to stick them in the freezer for about a 15 minutes. You can skip this step, but I find it makes things easier on me.
Then you will go ahead and melt a larger portion of the candy melts, and dip each donut hole carefully into that until it is coated all around the donut hole.
The best thing to do is to then put them in either a cake pop holder, or a cup of sugar (to help them stand up straight to dry).
Normally you would not want to lay cake pops on parchment paper to dry, because it will create a flat spot where you lay it down. However, in this case you are making monsters – and again – the uglier the better….so if that is easier for you to do that works perfectly fine in this situation.
You will want to store them in an air tight containers, and enjoy within 1 to 2 days of making them for best quality.

Make Frankenstein Cake Pops
Monster Ideas for Decorating Your No Bake Cake Pops –
We made the following monsters:
Mummy Cake Pops – Use white candy melts and start by coating your cake pop and laying on parchment paper. Add two candy eyes, and then drizzle a little extra white candy melt around it for that layered look for mummy cake pops.
Frankenstein Cake Pops – We melted green candy melts for Frankenstein cake pops. Dip your cake pop in the green candy and lay on parchment paper. Add the candy eyes and let it dry. Once the chocolate has hardened, you can use some gel food color tubes to add a little black hair on the top, and the mouth at the bottom to finish off the look.
Pumpkin Cake Pops (you could make your face scary for a Jack O Lantern cake pop …we kept things light for our pumpkin cake pops). Dip your cake pop into the melted orange candy melts, and let it harden. Once it has hardened us the gel food color tubes to add eyes, nose and mouth.
Ghost Cake Pops – For the ghost cake pops you will use the white candy melts again. This time though, you will generously cover the donut hole in the melted white chocolate, and put it upside down (stick side up instead of down) to dry on parchment paper. This will let some white chocolate run down to create that ghost shape. You can add a little bit extra at the bottom if you need more chocolate for that look. Once it has dried use your gel food coloring tubes to add eyes and mouth.
Random goblin monsters – All you need for these are some sprinkles and candy eyes. Use whatever color candy melts you want, add some sprinkles and then randomly add candy eyes around (make sure you add more than two so they look like monsters for most of them).
How to Make your No Bake Cake Pops Stand Up
To get your cake pops to stand up when you are making them, as well as when you want to display them after they are done, you will need a cake pop stand. There is no need to spend a lot of money on one of these, you can even DIY it for free. The simplest way to DIY it, is to use a jar full of sugar (or something that will hold the cake pops up in the jar. I made the black one you saw above just by drilling holes in some wood I had on hand. I was doing monsters, so I distressed my wood to not look great – just to go with the monster look in this case – but you could do the same thing with any scrap wood pieces you might have around too.
If you do not want to DIY it, you can grab this cardboard one at Walmart for $2.99, or if you want something just a little nicer you will find this acrylic one would work for just about any situation, and is only $6.79 here.
If you want to keep your cake pops covered, you can get these little mini bag and tie sets too for under $2 here.
