Mickey Hot Chocolate Bomb Recipe
One of our favorite baking items to make this winter season has been hot chocolate bombs – my girls are loving getting creative with all sorts of fun toppings & fillings. They just are such fun items to not only make for yourself, but also to give to family & friends. My daughter just made some valentine themed hot chocolate bombs to give out to some classmates for Valentine’s this year.
I love that they can be customized for any holiday & for any theme. Since we are big Disney lovers here & we know so many of you are as well, we thought it would be fun to share these darling, themed Disney hot chocolate bombs. This fun Mickey Hot Chocolate Bomb recipe is really not as hard as it looks! Just add some candy melts, marshmallows & you can create these adorable Mickey Hot Cocoa bombs! These are sure to delight any Disney fans especially if they are missing their Disneyland trips right now!
Mickey Hot Chocolate Bomb:
Ingredients:
Chocolate Almond Bark
Red candy melts
Yellow candy melts (this is not show in the picture)
Hot chocolate mix
Mini marshmallows
Large marshmallows
Round silicone mold
Directions:
Melt almond bark in a microwave safe bowl and stir every 30 seconds to avoid burning the chocolate (every microwave is different)
Place a spoonful of chocolate in the middle of the mold and use the back of the spoon to spread evenly around the circle (make sure to cover all the way up to the very edge of the mold)
Coat the mold 2 times for good coverage to help avoid breakage (I like to coat it once & freeze it for 5 – 10 minutes, then coat it again. Allow to dry completely – the freezer works well for 5-10 minutes to make sure it’s totally dry.
De-mold and place the pieces on wax paper
Melt more almond bark and cover 2 marshmallow per hot cocoa bomb completely in chocolate and allow it to dry on wax paper
Melt red candy melts and stir every 30 seconds
Place the red candy met in a piping bag or baggie and cut a very small hole in the corner
Draw a line as straight as possible down the middle of the circle then fill in one of the circle completely with the red candy melt
Allow the red to dry completely then add the yellow candy melt for his buttons
Use a pan on your stovetop & place your 2 halves on it briefly to melt down the sides.
Add in the hot chocolate mix and marshmallows to one side then place both ends together while the melted chocolate is still hot (this allows both pieces to be sealed together making a ball shape)
Once the bomb is completely dry, melt down the bottom part of the chocolate covered marshmallows and place 2 on either side of the bomb where the seem is to give Mickey his ears (you will have to hold it for at least 30 seconds before letting go or it will fall off) . I like to put them in the freezer for a bit longer to make sure they are totally dry.
Once dry, it is ready to drink or you can store to use another time! When ready to drink, place in a mug and pour hot milk over the bomb and watch it explode
Enjoy!
Tip: Try to pour hot milk in the same spot and pour slowly
