- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cup all purpose Flour
- 3/4 cup oats
- 2 1/4 tsp instant yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tblsp butter
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 2 tblsp honey
- 2 tblsp oats
Instructions
- Combine the flour, oats, yeast, and salt in a bowl/mixer.
- In a separate bowl, add the butter to the warm milk and melt.
- Next stir honey in lukewarm water to melt, and add to milk and butter mixture.
- Add milk mixture to flour mixture.
- Mixing until a dough forms and then knead the dough until stickiness is gone (should be able to pull it up and have it bounce back to shape).,
- Spray a bowl with non-stick spray and add the dough.
- Cover and let it rise (approx 40 minutes).
- After dough has doubled in size place on a lightly floured surface and shape into a 9 by 12-inch rectangle.
- Shape into a loaf and place into a 9×5-inch loaf pan
- Cover and let sit once more to rise again (about double in size)
- Warm the 2 tbls. honey.
- Once dough has risen, brush the top with the warmed honey and sprinkle with 2 tblsp oats.
- Bake in a preheated 350 degrees oven for approx. 45 minutes, or until the bread is browned.
