Free Goodwill Tax Preparation and Filing Center Extended Thru September!
Today is April 15th, 2019 & that means it’s Tax Day! Here is some good news for you! If you qualified for Earned Income (EITC) or child tax credits this year & have not claimed these credits in the past, you could be eligible for up to 3 additional years’ worth of refunds (2016 & 2017 in addition to this year’s 2018 tax year).
For those who want to look at these possible, additional refunds or if you are needing to apply for a tax extension today, the Goodwill Tax Preparation Center in Tacoma will be extending their free tax services for an additional 5 months, thru September 26, 2019. This extension of free tax services is in partnership with Goodwill, Pierce County Asset Building Coalition & funding partner, Key Bank.

Here are the details on their hours for free tax preparation for qualified families::
(from April 16th – September 26, 2019)
Open every Thursday from 3:30 – 7:30pm by appointment (contact 253-537-6709 / Goodwill in Tacoma to schedule)
OR
“Valet” drop-off / pick-up service on Fridays from 9am – noon. This is to minimize the time you spend waiting for appointments. Drop off your W-2’s, 1099 forms for other income, Health Insurance form & any other documents. The tax filers will prepare your taxes and set a return date/time f or you to come back to finalize your filing or pick up your tax documents to mail to the IRS.

Income Requirements for Free Tax Help:
This free tax center are for those who qualify based on income – the requirement is for those whose income is $54,000 or less. The volunteer certified tax preparer with sit with you and prepare your taxes for you (just like a paid service such as HR Block, etc). Definitely call the center to ask if you qualify if you are close to that amount.
