Firecracker Salmon Recipe
Are you looking for a good salmon recipe? We love to have salmon in the summertime and grilled salmon is the best with that extra burst of flavor! You could also make this recipe easily when camping, too, just wrap it in foil and use over a fire with a grill or on your camping stove or grill. This Firecracker Salmon recipe is one that is filled with some great flavor – add some fresh veggies and potatoes & you’ve got yourself a delicious summer dinner. Plus, it’s an easy dish to throw together!
Don’t forget to check out our Smoked Salmon recipe, too – it’s easier than you think to smoke your salmon as another way to use salmon.
Firecracker Salmon
Ingredients::
- 1/2 cup peanut oil
- 4 tablespoons soy sauce
- 4 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 4 tablespoons green onions, chopped
- 3 teaspoons brown sugar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 8 (4 oz) fillets of salmon
Directions::
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Mix in a bowl the first 10 ingredients: peanut oil, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, green onions, brown sugar, minced garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, sesame oil & salt.
Stir together well to make your marinade for the salmon.
In a ziploc gallon size bag, add the salmon and pour the marinade on top of it. Close the bag and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Even better if you can marinate your salmon for up to 4 hours as the longer you marinate the salmon, the more flavorful it will be. {This is one of those recipes that will taste even better the longer you marinate it.}
This tastes best if you create a foil packet for the salmon to really let those flavors simmer together. Place a sheet of foil on a baking pan, enough to cover & wrap the salmon.
Place the salmon on the foil, use a brush or spoon to add more sauce on top. Wrap it with the ends folded in so the sauce will not leak.
Bake at 375 degrees for 10 – 12 minutes or until the salmon is firm to the touch in the middle of the fish.
Open the foil packet & then broil the fish for 2-3 minutes (watching carefully so the salmon will not burn). Remove & serve right away.
*This can also be grilled on your barbecue in the same way, with the foil packet placed right on the grill for 10-12 minutes (checking frequently to see if the salmon is firm to the touch). Open the foil packet at the end & let it cook for another 1-2 minutes with the foil packet open.
Camping Instructions:
As I mentioned, this Firecracker Salmon recipe would be delicious for a camping meal, grilled over the fire or a camp stove. You could store it in a ziploc bag or container with the marinade so it’s nice & moist & flavorful when you cook it.
All you’ll need to do when you’re ready to cook it is take it out of the ziploc bag or container and wrap it up in foil & fold the sides in (to hold in that sauce & flavor). Then place it on the grill over the fire for 10 minutes or so (until it’s firm to the touch). Open up the foil for the last few minutes.
This makes a delicious meal for camping & the prep is done ahead of time with adding the marinade before you even leave to go camping. Clean-up is a breeze as you just throw the foil packets away!
