Baked Apple Cider Donuts Recipe
One of our favorite fall activities is to go to a local apple cider mill & farm where they have all sorts of treats made with apples. We love trying out their fresh apple cider and the apple cider donuts are always so good as they just seem to melt in your mouth! Baked apple cider donuts are a healthier way to enjoy them at home!
You don’t have to head to an apple farm to have that experience – make delicious apple cider donuts at home so you can enjoy this treat anytime! We love this recipe for Baked Apple Cider Donuts as they are healthier than the fried version & so easy & simple to make! Your kids will love making this recipe with you for a yummy back-to-school treat or a tasty breakfast on a cool, rainy morning!
Baked Apple Cider Donuts:
Since you are baking these donuts, to keep them healthier, you will need a donut pan to do that. Either silicone donut molds or these more traditional non-stick donut mold trays will work for this recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups apple cider
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup milk, room temperature
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Crunchy Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup butter, melted
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350° F. Prepare a donut pan with nonstick spray
- Melt butter and allow to cool slightly
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a medium bowl, beat the egg with a whisk. Then add milk, melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla and whisk until fully combined and smooth. Next, add reduced apple cider whisk again.
- Combine the wet cider mixture with the dry mixture and whisk all ingredients until fully combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared donut pan; fill each well about 2/3 of the way full.
- Bake for 10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from the pan and allow to continue to cool.
Cinnamon Sugar Topping
- Melt butter in a shallow bowl. Once melted, whisk and combine sugar and cinnamon.
- Dip the donuts into the butter, and sugar mixture. You may also use your fingers to coat it if you want a thicker coating. Repeat with remaining donuts
- Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Enjoy!
