25+ DIY Cleaning Recipes using Essential Oils
With a new year starting, many of us are looking to reduce the toxins & chemicals in our homes and one of the best ways to do that is to create your own DIY cleaning recipes. By making your own recipes, you know exactly what you are putting in the cleaners, so you can feel good about using those cleaners in your homes around your children, pets, and yourselves. I love making my own cleaners with essential oils as I know they are still powerful enough to cut the grime, dirt & germs, but I don’t feel miserable after using them due to allergies (I am very allergic to other cleaners). Plus, I can also give my daughters’ the DIY cleaners to use so that they can have “chores” around the home & be contributing to our home, but using safe, non-toxic cleaners.
My absolute favorite cleaner using essential oils is the Thieves Household Cleaner. These bottles last forever as you only need 2-3 caps of cleaner per bottle (the bottle is a bit pricey until you realize that it will last you a really long time). You then fill up the rest of the spray bottle with water. {I just pick up my spray bottles at the dollar store & they work out perfectly for keeping in the kitchen, bathrooms, etc with this cleaner.} You can use the Thieves household cleaner for everything – household cleaner in the kitchen, bathrooms, carpet/stain remover cleaner, glass cleaner, to clean the grill, and much more.
I also love to create my own DIY recipes with essential oils to use around the home. The added benefit of DIY cleaners is that they are very frugal, too, as many of these ingredients are very cost-effective and you only typically need a few drops of the essential oil to be effective so the oils can go a long way, too. I appreciate that it’s so cost-effective for all-natural, organic cleaners with no chemicals, as those can be so pricey in the stores.
