This is very exciting news – the Department of the Interior has announced that active military members and their dependents will be able to get an Annual Pass to National Parks for FREE. The America the Beautiful National Parks and Federal Recreation Lands Annual Pass typically costs $80, but active duty military & dependents will be able to get this for FREE! What an awesome way to thank our service members and their families for their service to our country!

If the active duty service member is deployed or they are traveling separately, active-duty military dependents can pick up the pass with a valid military ID (DoD Form 1173). The Annual Pass will allow the owner of the vehicle & the passengers in a vehicle to access the site for FREE. If there is a location where entrance fees are charged per person, then the pass covers the pass owner & 3 adults aged 16 & older. This is also available to the National Guard members & reservists. {It is not available for military retirees or veterans.}

You can also check out this post here for free National Park days available to everyone throughout the year.

The Annual Park Pass will provide access to the following types of parks that charge an entrance fee:

  • National Park Service parks
  • US Fish & Wildlife Service lands
  • Bureau of Reclamation lands
  • Bureau of Land Management lands
  • US Forest Service locations
  • US Army Corps sites

All you need to do to get this pass is head to any National Park or other location listed above starting on Saturday May 19th or any time after that & bring your military ID to pick up your park pass. You will then be able to use this for a year at any number of parks & other locations.

Thanks Money Saving Mom!
